DAY 03: Experience Munnar

DAY 04: Thekkady - 100kms- 3 hrs drive, Explore Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Lake

A scrumptious breakfast from Munnar and then you are on your way to Thekkady/Periyar /Kumily - India’s largest Wildlife Sanctuary and a dream destination for any tourist visiting Kerala. The Periyar forests in the area are one of the finest wildlife reserves in the country. The sheer number of the wealth in these forests is staggering. With a whopping 1965 flowering plants that include 171 grass species and 143 orchid species is what constitutes this great treasure house of flora. The number of fauna is even more intimidating and they include 35 species of mammals which includes the Tiger, the Asian elephant, sambar deer, the Indian bison, Indian wild dog, lleopard, smooth-coated otter which can be sighted during a boat cruise in the Periyar Lake. The list is endless and is a sheer testimony to the intimidating majesty of the great treasure trove of Mother Nature’s best works.

DAY 05: Alappuzha Houseboat trip

After breakfast, its goodbye to Thekkady and hello to Alappuzha – the Venice of the East. The shores, washed by the silvery waves of the Arabian Sea, lay in wait for you to set on your next journey across the famous Houseboats of Alappuzha. Setting out at noon, this cruise lets you enjoy the beautiful villages, paddy fields, shoreline based churches, temples and the day-to-day life of the local folk, who would almost always be busy with their catch of the day. And adding to that, the local flavour you experience is further enhanced by the fact that you would be served with the traditional houseboat lunch prepared for you by the locals.Spending the night over in the houseboat, would definitely give you a night to remember for a lifetime.

DAY 06: Drive to Cochin for shopping followed by departure

Enjoy a splendid breakfast at your hotel in Alappuzha and after checkout it’s time to drive towards Cochin for the onward journey. Of course, if time permits, then it would be a great way to say good bye to the place with a shopping trip in the city and when you’re done, drop back at the Airport or the Railway station for your journey back home after saying a last minute goodbye to God’s Own Country which would have given you plenty of memories for you to life time.
